Preparations are continuing at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region for the funeral of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, despite a High Court injunction seeking to halt the burial arrangements.

Workers were seen putting the finishing touches to the funeral grounds, with canopies, decorations, seating and other logistical arrangements taking shape ahead of the funeral, which was scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2026.

The preparations come in the wake of an Accra High Court order granting a 10-day interim injunction restraining former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, from proceeding with the funeral arrangements pending the determination of a legal dispute.

The dispute centres on the organisation of the late Apostle Safo’s funeral, with reports indicating that his final will entrusted the custody of his body and responsibility for organising his burial to his son, Akofena.

Despite the court order, activity at the funeral grounds remained brisk, with organisers continuing preparations while awaiting further legal developments.

Scores of members of the Kristo Asafo Mission, relatives and sympathisers have gathered at Gomoa Mpota to assist with preparations and pay their respects to the late spiritual leader.

Police personnel from the Winneba Divisional Police Command have also been deployed to the venue to maintain law and order as uncertainty remains over whether the funeral will proceed as scheduled.

However, Adwoa Safo has since vowed the funeral will come off come whay may as she has incurred huge cost to it’s effect.
