Adepam contestant, Chris Anokye Amankwah, popularly known as Barimapa, was adjudged winner of the maiden edition of Adom TV’s reality show, ‘Wo Nsa Ano Adwuma.’

He went home with GH¢ 5,000.00, five industrial machines,a shop and a tablet. 

 Speaking in an interview with Adomonline.com, he said he was optimistic he would emerge winner of the competition.

“ I took into consideration the comments of the judges and paid attention to my finishing and details so I was convinced that nothing will stop me on the runway,” he said.

Mr Amankwah expressed excitement at winning the competition and thanked Adom TV for unleashing his potential through the programme.

“ Today is one of the most happiest days of my life, this win clearly shows that Adom TV doesn’t discriminate and I thank them so much,” he added. 

Judges of the show-Madam Serwaa Dapaah and Abena Serwaa Ophelia-were thrilled by his designs and commended him for a good work done.

She took home GH¢ 3,000.00, two industrial sewing machines and a tablet.

All about Grace:

Grace Fremah Sarkodie is one of the lucky finalists in Adom TV’s sewing reality show, Wo Nsa Ano Adwuma.

Fremah is the only contestant in the show who was adjudged the Best Designer for a second consecutive time, making her the only contestant to have won the show’s Butterfly Moment back-to-back.

The 22-year-old designer has shown herself approved so far in the competition by consistently displaying outstanding and dynamic designs.

Fremah had her basic and junior high school education at Darkwa Memorial School before continuing her second cycle education at Mampong Presbyterian Senior High School.

Miss Sarkodie, driven by her passion for fashion, took the trade serious after her secondary school education by working closely with her mother who is also a seamstress.

It is no surprise that Grace has been a fans’ favourite and a show stopper since entering into the competition.

Fremah is a devoted Christian born to Madam Delalie Amenuku and fellowships with the Bethel Temple Branch of the International Central Gospel Church.

Elikem Godwin Klagbo is the first contestant to win the show’s first ‘Butterfly Moment’, a weekly reward that goes to the best designer of the week.

The 26-year-old designer is the proud son of Gladys Gyanyikpor and Mr Victor Klagbo.

Elikem had his basic school education at Datus International School, Dansoman before continuing to Awudome Senior High School where he had his second cycle education.

He later enrolled at Maranatha University College where he graduated with a 1st class degree in Accounting.

As a person with interest in fashion, Elikem enrolled at Dream College of Creative Arts where he studied and graduated with a diploma in Fashion Technology.

The promising talent and fan’s favourite was awarded the best student in the 2019 class of Dream College of Creative Arts.

He has so far demonstrated a high level of commitment for his passion by consistently displaying innovative designs on the Adepam runway.

The finalist went home with a GH¢1,000.00 and a tablet.

She has proven worthy of the competition by far with her exceptional designs.  

Speaking in an interview with Adomonline.com, she said she was proud of her designs.

“ I am so proud of the designs I produced though I wasn’t the winner,” she said.

She believes that the Adom TV platform will expose her to even bigger opportunities. 

“ I thank Adom TV for this exposure and I know that I will become one of the world’s best designers,” she added.

All about Bernice:

Bernice Amu is a 27-year-old single lady with five years working experience who acquired her elementary education at St Jude’s Preparatory, Third Academy and Salvation Army Schools.

Bernice proceeded to the Keta Senior High School in the Volta region and to the Accra Technical University where she studied Fashion Design and Technology.

Bernice of the Adepam reality Show is a Christian who worships at the Voice of God Missions Church at Dansoman.

Adepam Star, Elikem Godwin, once again lived up to expectation when it was his time to showcase his beautiful ‘Architectural Collections.’

The auditorium of Mikaddo Conference Centre glittered as models showcased his beautiful designs to the pleasure of the audience and the judges.

Elikem was the first contestant to win ‘Butterfly Moment’ (best designer) in the Adom TV’s reality show ‘Wo Nsa Ano Adwuma’.

The 26-year-old designer is the proud son of Madam Gladys Gyanyikpor and Mr Victor Klagbo. He had basic and junior high school education at Datus International School at Dansoman in Accra.

Musical band, Ark Band, thrilled elated audience at the ‘Wo Nsa Ano Adwuma’ finals held at the Mikaddo Conference Centre at Labone in Accra with an overwhelming and electrifying performance.

The Mikaddo auditorium blazed with joy and excitement as they treated patrons with amazing tunes much to the delight of the audience.

The band performed hits songs from hiplife and highlife artistes such as Medikal, Amakye Dede, C.K. man and also songs from Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni of Nigeria.

A young Christian of the Asafo branch of the Pentecost Church, Barimpa is the son of Mr Kwabena Anokye and Mrs Akua Anokye.

Barimapa had his elementary education at MDC Primary School at Assin Akosumpidi before proceeding to Kings Technical Institute at Assin Fosu.

The show, which started on June 17 this year, has succeeded in making stars out of seamstresses and tailors who were hitherto unknown.

The competition, which started with 12 contestants – Dorcas Tane, Bernice Amu, Mark Arthur, Sally Dede Armah, Mabel Agyeman, Cynthia Asemaku, Rita Offei, Grace Sarkodie,  Elikem Godwin Klagbo, Sarah Sackey, Chris Anokye Amankwa and Ishmael Armatiefio has whittled down the numbers to four.

Below, adomonline.com, which has been following the show week-in-week-out, has gone down memory lane to take readers through every happening since the show started.

Week 1:  Contestants were tasked to sew corporate event attire. There were no eviction and no declaration of the best designer for the week.

Week 2: Contestants were tasked to design a Traditional wedding outfit. There were no evictions for the week. Contestant Elikem Godwin Klagbo was adjudged best designer for the week.

Week 3: Contestants were tasked to design outfits for a national durbar. Week three witnessed the first-ever eviction with Sarah Sackey being the unfortunate victim. The best designer for the week went to contestant Mark Arthur.

Week 4: Contestants were assigned to celebrities and tasked to design outfits to fit their styles or persons. The week witnessed the show’s second eviction and this time, it was designer, Cynthia Asemaku, who fell on the wrong side of the dagger. The best designer for the week went to contestant Rita Offei.

Week 5: Contestants were tasked to sew couture (design and manufacture of fashionable clothes to a client’s specific requirements and measurements). The week witnessed the third eviction with Ishmael Armatiefio going out of the competition. Dorcas Tane was adjudged the week’s best designer.

Week 6: Contestants were tasked to design urban carnival street attires. Week six witnessed the show’s fourth eviction where the previous week’s best designer Dorcas Tane was evicted as Rita Offei was declared best designer for the week.

Week 7:  Contestants were tasked to refurbish wedding dresses with GTP fabrics. The week witnessed its first odd moment where Chris Anokye Amankwa was adjudged the best designer for the week was at the same time, evicted.

Week 8: Contestants were tasked to produce a dress for a farmer for a farmer’s day event, eviction free Chris Amankwa was called back into the competition, best designer Elikem Klagbo.

Week 9:  Contestants were tasked to produce a futuristic attire. The sixth eviction of the show happened with Sally Dede Armah going home as Bernice Amu was declared the best designer for the week.

Week 10: Contestant were tasked to sew beach wears for plus size models. The seventh eviction took place with designer Mark Arthur exiting the show even though he was declared the best designer of the week.

Week 11: Contestants were tasked to produce children collection. It was the week for the eighth eviction as Rita Offei was evicted and contestant Grace Sarkodie was adjudged best designer for the week.

Week 12: Contestants were tasked to design surprise birthday attires for chosen public figures who are 60 years and beyond. The week witnessed no evictions but designer Grace Sarkodie was declared the best for the week.

Week 13: The show was taken to the Rawlings Park where there was a fashion runway show. There were neither an eviction nor a best designer.

The competition has entered the 14^th week with the final four contestants battling it out for the ultimate prize.

The Grand finale of the show is slated for Sunday 29th September 2019 at the Mikado Conference Centre.

The winner of the show will go home with 5,000 Ghana cedis, a container shop, five industrial machines, a tablet and souvenirs from sponsors.

The 1st runner up will go home with three industrial sewing machines, 3,000 Ghana cedis, a tablet and souvenirs from sponsors.

The 2nd runner up will take home one industrial sewing machine, 1,500 Ghana Cedis, a tablet and souvenirs.

The 3rd runner up gets 1,500 Ghana Cedis, a tablet and souvenirs.

All eight evicteeS will also get a 1000 Ghana cedis each. –

She won the best designer for last week’s exceptional display of beautiful designs for children.

Grace has been one faithful contestant who has proven worthy of the competition by consistently blowing the minds of funs and judges with fantastic designs.

Miss Sarkodie went home with a brand new sewing machine sponsored by Nankani and Hagan, one of the sponsors of the reality show.

Wo Nsa Ano Adwuma is a sewing reality show which is aired on Adom TV every Sunday at 5:00pm. The show, which began with 12 contestants, now stands with four finalists battling for the ultimate prize.

The Mikado auditorium erupted with cheers as the audience was over the moon seeing some of their favourite celebrities on the runway.

Notable among the artistes were Akosua Agyapong, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, Maame Dokono and Prince Yawson, popularly known as Waakye, who cat walked in their beautifully-designed outfits to the delight of viewers, audience and judges.

The task for the week for the contestants was for them to design a surprise birthday attire for a public figure who is over 60 years.

From all indications, what the designers showcased met the expectations of the judges and the audience.

Speaking in an interview with Adomonline.com, Akosua Agyapong, one of the surprise models of the day, expressed her excitement and commended Adom TV  for a great initiative.

She also commended the designers for good work done.

I must say I am very impressed by what I have seen here, the designers are so talented. Looking at the short time I met the designer and what she has been able to put together, I’m very surprised and happy that our young men and women are very creative and innovative. God bless Adom TV for this initiative, she stated.

The auditorium was gleaming as the children stylishly displayed beautiful outfit designed by the five finalists.

The Week 11 edition of ‘Wo Nsa Ano Adwuma’ runway show featured five designs of the talented designers from their children’s collection.

The audience and judges were thrilled by the manner the children gracefully exhibited the lovely designs of the contestants.

Contestants were tasked to sew children outfit for both boys and girls which was fascinating to the audience and judges.

The contestants showcased brilliant styles to the amazement of the judges and the audience. The task was simple: Design a style with selected fruit and vegetables.

After a tough competition, the judges, with the help of the number of votes garnered by the contestants, came to the conclusion that the journey for Sally Dede Armah must come to an end.

Miss Armah is the 6th contestant to be evicted from the competition.

Friends, fans and sympathisers were sad at the announcement of her eviction but Miss Armah though equally sad, saw it as life’s many blessings and an opportunity to utilise the publicity she has received through the programme to promote her hard work and creativity.

Ardent fans, who follow the most-talked about fashion show, showed immense love by voting him back into the competition per the survey accumulation.

In an interview with Adomonline.com, Berimapa, who couldn’t hide his excitement, said “I am overwhelmed by the love Ghanaians have shown me,” adding that, “this shows that they love me and I will do my best to make them proud.”

He also pleaded with the general public to keep the votes coming.

“I went out of the competition not because my designs were bad but because of votes so please show me love by voting for me to stay in the competition,” he appealed.

Judges of the show, Richard Ohene Sika and Abena Serwaa Ophelia advised him to focus.

“Chris has a lot of fans and loved ones, his works so far have been amazing. We are very excited that he is back into the competition but he should be more determined and work on his votes,” judge Sika said.

After weeks of outstanding and creative performances from a contestant in the ongoing Adom TV sewing reality show, Wo Nsa Ano Adwuma, Dorcas Tane became the next victim of eviction.

Though Miss Tane had so far exhibited some outstanding designs in the previous weeks of the show, she fell short of the votes required to continue her journey in the competition.

Prior to the eviction, contestants were tasked to design an African Urban style for a street carnival.

Miss Tane’s eviction, as expected, was characterised by pouring out of emotions by friends and sympathisers.

The contestants were required to produce a couture, a very special fashionable style and of high quality that would probably be worn once to a function.

The contestants went to work and produced different beautiful designs; unfortunately Miracle Design could not pull through, especially on votes from the audience.

His journey, thus, came to an end.

If there is one thing that that will keep contestants of the popular Adom TV’s ‘Wo Nsa Ano Adwuma’ show in the competition, then it is certainly not just the views of the judges.

In fact, the secret to staying in the competition and possibly wining the ultimate trophy is contestant’s ability to rally, even if it means begging, friends, family members, church members and work colleagues among others, to vote massively for him/her.

This was made clear during today’s (Sunday, June 21) edition of the much-talked about show that puts the highlight on tailors and seamstresses to showcase their sewing skills for not just attracting huge customers in the future, but winning mouth-watering prices.

According to judges Richard Ohene Sika, a tutor at Riohs Originate, and Abena Serwaa Ophelia of ABS Collection, the secret to staying in the competition is the contestants urging supporters to vote massively for them.

The judges said aside their views on designs showcased each week, voting counts the most in determining who stays or goes home.

The judges’ comments came after the eviction of Ishmael Armartiefio who had the least of votes at the end of week five of the competition.

‘Wo Nsa No Adwuma,’ an Akan phrase that elicits the response ‘Me Nim Adepam’ which literally means ‘I know how to sew’, gives designers the avenue to showcase, promote their designs and for the audience to know how well the designers can effectively work on time.

The judges, after scrutiny, encouraged the contestants to do more and put in their best in the coming weeks.

The unlucky contestant, who got evicted, was Cynthia Aba Asimeku. In an interview with Adomonline.com, she said the eviction didn’t get to her because the Adom TV’s show would put her in the limelight though she did not win the ultimate crown.

“This platform has been a great opportunity for me and I know it doesn’t end here, I will continue to do my work. I am grateful to God for bringing me this far,” she said.

After a keen contest, Rita Asiedu Offei won the ‘Butterfly Moment of the Week’ and was awarded with a ‘Butterfly Sewing Machine.’

He is known for his modernist thought, practical design, and pursuit for ‘expensive simplicity’, attributes that have won him award such as the most Influential and Accomplished young business leader in Fashion under age 40.

Sika was also named among 30 most influential people in the fashion industry.

Sika is known for his promptness, accuracy, consistency and desire to achieve, attributes he believes are basic things that every fashion designer, creative artists and entrepreneur should adopt in order to build a resilient brand.

The reality show, which highlights designs of competitors who were relatively unknown until this show, gives tailors and seamstresses the opportunity to showcase their exclusive designs and sewing skills as Adom TV provides them with the platform that will shoot them into national and international prominence.

Wo Nsa No Adwuma is an Akan expression that loosely translates as “your handiwork” elicits the response ‘Me Nim Adepam’ which also translates as ‘I know how to sew’.

Judges and mentors selected to appraise the finished work of the contestants were thrilled by his pattern and adjudged him the best designer of the week.

He went home with a brand new sewing machine and mackerels sponsored by Nankani and Hagan.

Speaking in an interview with Adomonline.com, he said he was overwhelmed by the award since all designers were equally competitive.

“Each and every contestant did very well because looking at their pieces they were very beautiful. I wasn’t expecting to win the ‘butterfly of the week’ because looking at the 12- man squad in the game, everyone is equally on top. It is amazing winning the ‘butterfly of the week’, but I feel I have to do more,” he said.

He added that the criticisms from the judges this week have encouraged him to do better and try more innovative designs.

“Listening to what the judges said this week, they didn’t like what I did because they know what I can actually do so that has cautioned me,” he added.

Adom TV’s newly launched reality show ‘Wo Nsa Ano Adwuma‘, which commenced on Sunday, June 23, 2019, has so far seen creative and innovative styles from the 12 selected contestants.

Judges and mentors selected to appraise the finished work of the contestants were thrilled on Sunday by the beautifully woven finished work of the contestants.

Speaking in an interview with Adomonline‘s Nana Aba Mensah, one of the judges of the show, Madam Abena Serwaa Ophelia expressed her excitement at the level of creativity displayed at the maiden edition.

The contestants were put on the spot by making them sew an attire within four hours.

“I was scared for the designers when I saw their illustrations. I honestly thought they weren’t going to pull it off but I am amazed at the outcome as they’ve portrayed much potential,” Madam Ophelia said.

Coach of the contest, Mrs Abigail Kyere of Abbi’s Creation, was also impressed with the level of improvement by the contestants within the few days of coaching.

“Apart from a few mistakes we corrected, I am impressed with the general look of their finished work,” she stated.

The show puts the 12 selected seamstresses and tailors on the spot as they are tasked to create special attires within a specific time frame.

During the maiden edition, judges of the show, Richard Ohene Sika, Chief Executive Officer of Riohs Originate Fashion, Abena Serwaa Ophelia of ABS Collections and mentor Mrs Abigail Kyere of Abbi’s Creations were very well represented to put the contestants on their toes.

Some of the contestants, who spoke to Adomonline.com, expressed their excitement about the show and promised to put in their best in the coming weeks as the show heats up.

“Though the task was a little bit challenging, we did our best and the judges have pinpointed the mistakes to us. Come next week our fans should expect the very best from us,” some of them said.

Adom TV’s ‘Wo Nsa Ano Adwuma‘ is a sewing reality show which seeks to nurture talents and encourage the need for one to learn a trade and acquire vocational skills.

The show is set to throw the spotlight on talented seamstresses and tailors who are deeply endowed when it comes to modern fashion.

After stressful weeks that saw intense competition among seamstresses and tailors, 12 people were chosen for the final race.

The first show had contestants – Dorcas Tane, Bernice Amu, Mark Arthur, Sally Dede Armah, Mabel Agyeman, Cynthia Asemaku, Rita Offei and Grace Sarkodie – showcase their sewing skills.

The other contestants, who trilled the audience with their sewing skills, were Elikem Godwin, Sarah Sackey, Barimapa Chris Anankwa and Ishmael Armatiefio.

To begin the competition, they were tasked to sew a corporate event attire for evaluation.

Their final products were appraised by the eminent judges who encouraged the contestants to improve their models as the competition heats up.

The best news of the day was when the competitors realised that it was an eviction-free edition because it was the maiden edition.

The launch, which was held at Earl Heights Hotel and Apartments at Dzorwulu in Accra, had in attendance dignitaries such as the Managing Director of Multi TV, Santokh Singh and Jonathan Adjeiagu, a judge of the reality show.

Speaking at the launch of the reality show, on behalf of the Multimedia Group Limited, Mr Kobbie Eshun, the Channel Coordinator for Adom TV urged participants to see the opportunity as a stepping stone into the limelight and give their all.

“Adom TV has given this platform for designers as the avenue to showcase, promote their designs and for the audience to know how well the designers can effectively work on time. We will urge all the participants to utilise this opportunity to the maximum,” he urged.

Abena Chirampah of the Joyce Ababio College of Design and Fashion, Joana Eshun, the National Coordinator for Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association and Abigail Kyere of Abbi Creation Consultancy, were there to give their support as sponsors of the reality show.

Participants of the reality show expressed gratitude to Adom TV for the platform which they believed would be the start of their breakthrough in the fashion design industry.
