Nations FC defender Dennis Korsah believes his side has what it takes to overturn their first-leg defeat to FC Diarra and keep their CAF Confederation Cup campaign alive.

The Ghanaian club suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Malian side in the preliminary-round first leg, marking Nations FC’s first-ever match in continental football.

Despite the setback, Korsah insists the performance gave his side confidence that they can turn the tie around in Sunday’s return leg.

“We could have done better, maybe get a point, but then football happened,” the former Hearts of Oak right-back told the club’s media team.

“We just have to correct our mistakes and then try to do much better back home and qualify for the next round.”

The experienced defender also described the match as an important learning experience, particularly for younger players making their debut in African club competition.

“It’s good playing in this kind of competition. It’s an opportunity for some of the new guys. The feeling was good, but as you all know, the result wasn’t what we expected,” he said.

Nations FC will host FC Diarra at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 13 September, needing a two-goal victory to progress to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
