NPP National Chairman hopeful Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko has welcomed delegates to Kumasi for the party’s National Annual Delegates Conference and National Executives Elections, calling for unity and a renewed focus on rebuilding the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
In a message to delegates, Mr Agyarko described the gathering as an important moment for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and said the party’s immediate task was to “reset, rebuild and position” itself for the 2028 elections.
Under his proposed leadership agenda, Mr Agyarko said the party must focus on reconciliation and genuine unity, integrity and discipline, grassroots support, and election readiness.
He said his first priority would be to heal internal divisions, end factionalism and restore mutual respect among members.
On party discipline, he pledged to uphold the NPP’s constitution and ensure that its rules were applied fairly to all members, regardless of their positions.
Mr Agyarko also promised greater support for grassroots party structures, including year-round welfare packages, capacity-building programmes and more predictable logistical support for polling station and constituency executives.
He said the party must also strengthen its election machinery ahead of 2028 by developing what he described as a modern election and ballot-security structure extending from the polling station level.
The former Energy Minister said his proposed agenda was captured under the acronym “R.I.S.E.”, representing Reconciliation and Genuine Unity, Integrity of the Constitution and Discipline, Support for the Grassroots, and Election Readiness for 2028.
Mr Agyarko also highlighted his years of service to the NPP and said his experience in both government and opposition had prepared him for the role of National Chairman.
“I have stood with the NPP in victory and in opposition, because the party has always been bigger than any one of us,” he said.
He urged delegates to conduct themselves peacefully during the elections and protect the unity of the party.
Mr Agyarko further called on delegates to consider character, integrity and experience when casting their ballots.
