The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says between 3,000 and 4,000 police personnel have been deployed to Kumasi to provide security for its National Delegates Conference and elections.

The conference and elections are scheduled to take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

Chairperson of the NPP Organisation Committee, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, said the security deployment would cover the stadium, designated hostels for delegates and guests, as well as traffic management around the conference venue.

He commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Ashanti Regional Police Command for their cooperation in preparations for the event.

Speaking to Citi News in Kumasi, Mr Karbo said arrangements for the conference were at an advanced stage, with delegates already arriving in the city and settling into their assigned accommodation.

He said public address systems were being installed at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, while security personnel had also been positioned at strategic locations around the facility.

Mr Karbo expressed confidence in the conduct of the aspirants and delegates, saying the contestants had generally cooperated with the organising committee throughout the preparations.

He urged delegates to remain disciplined and conduct themselves responsibly to ensure that the conference and elections are held without disruptions.

“We’re very much ready for tomorrow; you come around, you see the police and arrangements so far. I’m sure we’re ready; delegates are arriving at their hostels.

“The IGP has been fantastic so far; his regional command has been cooperative with us, and they have worked hard to deploy about 3,000 to 4,000 police force to help us with security arrangements and traffic within the hostels and also the stadium,” he said.

Mr Karbo assured that the NPP remained committed to ensuring a smooth and successful National Delegates Conference.
