The Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, has been sworn in as the acting President of the country in the absence President Nana Akufo Addo and his Vice, Dr. Bawumia who are all out of the country for different reasons.

There was an emergency recall of parliament on Friday by the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu, to swear in the Speaker in accordance with Article 60 (11) and (12) of the 1992 constitution.
In the late hours of 3:16 pm on Sunday, the speaker took the 1st oath which was adminstered by the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo.

Where are the Presidents?

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, left Ghana on Sunday, 21st January, 2018, at 3:10pm, to attend the investiture of the President-Elect of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency George Weah, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, 22nd January, 2018, in Monrovia, Liberia.
The Vice-president on the other hand was flown out of the country to the UK for medical treatment. A Flagstaff release on Friday 19th January 2018, said the Vice President was unwell. The release added that he was receiving medical attention from his doctors as he undergoes observations.
