Former President Jerry John Rawlings has said the younger generation within his National Democratic Congress (NDC) are the ones bastardising the truth, and not him.

According to him, his recent apology to his successors John Agyekum Kufuor and John Mahama, was borne out of such bastardisation of the truth.

Mr Rawlings apologised to the two former presidents after referring to them as “evil” and “rogue”, respectively.

Speaking at Second Revolutionary Lecture Series held in his honour in Accra, Mr Rawlings said: “I’m 70, I’m not the one who is bastardising the truth; if the younger generation you are talking about, the ones with sharp teeth, who are much younger, had not attempted bastardising the truth then probably, there wouldn’t have been the need for an apology.
