Minister of State in charge of Public Procurement, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo says public officials who breach procurement laws would be dealt with by the Independent Special Prosecutor.
Adwoa Safo said the office of the Special Prosecutor will soon take charge of such issues.

According to her, the Auditor General’s annual reports reveal that 80 percent of the procurement malpractices are centered on sole sourcing.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Friday, Adwoa Safo noted that the Akufo Addo government will adopt open competitive tendering in its transactions.

This, she said, would help with transparency, accountability and value for money as well as allow for competition among everybody including Ghanaians.
“Our government is keen on making sure that there is transparency and accountability and so, any procurement officer who breaches the laws will be dealt with drastically. The office of the Special Prosecutor is the one to deal with such persons.
“The office won’t just prosecute offenders; it will make sure that issues are investigated drastically before any prosecution takes place” she noted.

Former Attorney General under President Mills’ administration has been nominated as Ghana’s special prosecutor pending parliamentary approval.
And Adwoa Safo who is also the Member of Parliament for the Dome Kwabenya constituency said she is optimistic the ‘Citizen Vigilante’ will not be compromised in any way.
She however assured Ghanaians of her Ministry’s commitment to doing everything within its capacity to promote the creation of employment in the local economy.
