Some service personnel who have extended their services and are anticipating allowances have been left disappointed after it emerged that they will not receive a dime for their services.
The Deputy National Service Director in charge of Operations, Henry Nana Boakye who disclosed this on Accra based Okay FM said the move is to ensure that payment is done accordingly and also erase the pay roll of ghost names.
He said though these personnel may have genuine concerns, their names will be deleted from the payroll since they have already served their term.
“Any personnel who have already served the nation will not be paid and the laws of the country even do not accept it. We always receive complaints from these personnel saying they have not been paid for some months but I want them to understand that those who have already served and have been paid already but chose to undertake the service again will not be paid” he said.
National Service personnel across the country have for the past two (2) months not received their allowances.
The government approved the amount of GHc 559 to be paid as monthly allowance to National Service personnel.
Payments of the upward adjustment started from April 1, management of the National Service Secretariat said.
The NSS allowance was increased by President John Mahama in his last days in office.
But speaking on the issue, Mr. Nana Boakye explained that they understand the conditions of the service personnel.
Nana Boakye also added that the enrollment of service personnel this year alone increased which he believes delayed in payment of the service allowance.
This notwithstanding, he indicated that about 9,000 personnel have so far been paid as at Wednesday afternoon.

  1. please tell this man that some of us have still not received our September allowance meanwhile we all started work on the said commencement date. I want to know why my September allowance should be held back!
    I was expecting double allowance in October since I didn’t receive that of September but just one came as i checked. I STILL WANT TO KNOW WHY?!

  2. please we should just create a group so we storm their office if they think they going to spend our september alowance make them sit and wai,not even their PRO coming out to say what the issue is

  3. Please tell Nana B that what they are doing is bad, we want them to pay us by the end of the month. we are very dissapointed, some of us even have not receive any payment. they should rather check that what they are doing is not good, what kind of life is this ghanaian leaders of NSS.
