A 34-year-old man, Eric Simon is in the grips of Tema Police for pouring acid on his girlfriend for jilting him.
According to a neighbor, Vida Addo, who was also a victim of the acid spill, Eric came home very angry at dawn on Thursday after his girlfriend told him about her intentions.
The livid young man who could not stand seeing his lover with another man decide to disfigure her by bathing her with acid during a fight.
In an attempt to rescue Nana Martha from Eric, the neighbor Vida fell victim to the acid spill including her grandchild who was sitting close-by.
“About 5 am Thursday, I heard the lady screaming loud and so as a Good Samaritan, I followed up only to find Simon pouring acid on the girl.
“The issue is that the lady in question was tired of the relationship and was packing out. And the man didn’t understand so he poured the acid on the girl. The closer I got the more the man tried to spill it on me…” she explained.
But that act has landed him in police custody as he has been arrested by police after he committed such an abominable act on a woman he dated for years.
Meanwhile, the Tema Police PRO ASP Juliana Obeng who also confirmed the sad incident said the suspect has been remanded in police custody pending investigations.
The woman, she said is currently receiving treatment at the Tema General Hospital.
