Government is considering transferring ownership of disputed lands into state ownership as part of effort to bring lasting solution to the Nkonya-Alavanyo conflict.
This follows renewed clash in the area leading to two deaths and several injuries.
Police say the perpetrators of the gun violence are from Alavanyo, a rival community in the area.
For decades, feuding factions have injured and killed over these disputed lands because both are laying ownership claims to the land and won’t see eye to eye with anyone who stands in their way.
Since then the conflict has escalated to include issues related to identity, recognition and power over who controls the disputed land.
However, Government’s continuous curfews on them seem not to have solved the problem.
Head of the Volta Regional Security Council, Regional Minister, Archibald Letsa in an interview with Joy News’ Ivy Sertodzi says dialogues with the feuding factions and all other stakeholders will resume to solve the issue once and for all.
The Minister, Archibald Letsa is calling for calm while they try to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed while Police investigate the cause of the recent attacks which claimed two lives.
