Some residents of Denkyira Boase in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region are still fleeing the town despite assurances by Military that they will not visit in any reprisal attacks on them.

The few women who returned to the town told Adom News that they are only there to get their things and observe the situation but will flee again.

Their move comes on the back of the late Army captain who was lynched in the Central Region on Monday.

Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama of the 5th Infantry Battalion was lynched at Denkyira Boase after he was mistaken for an armed robber.

The late military officer was among others deployed to combat illegal mining activities in the at Denkyira Boase forest reserve.

But some residents who spoke to Nhyria Fm’s Ohemeng Tawiah said they do not trust the word of the military not to take revenge hence they will flee to safety.

Ohemeng Tawiah reports that some residents claim they only came to spy to feed information to the others who are still hiding.

Meanwhile, the military troops have all left the area but life in the area is still not back to normal.
