The chiefs and people of Atebubu in the newly-created Bono East region are appealing to President Akufo-Addo to appoint the Region’s first Minister from their town.

They argue that since the capital of the region has eluded them, the only way to compensate the people is to appoint an indigene as the Regional Minister.

A spokesperson for Atebubu Traditional Council, Nana Boakye Yiadom, made the appeal after Techiman was named as the capital for the Bono East region.

President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, issued a Constitutional Instrument to give legal backing to the creation of the region.

He assured that “this government, which facilitated the creation of this region, in compliance with the provisions of the Constitution, will help ensure the smooth take-off and development of Bono East.”
