The Brong Ahafo Regional Police P.R.O., Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, has rendered an unqualified apology to the Drobo Traditional Council for the statement he made on the Drobo Japekrom tension which they deem as not factual.

Reacting to a press release by the Drobo Traditional Area, he said he has no interest in any of the two factions so his earlier statement which was in bad taste was not intentional.

Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong stated that he was not on the ground at the time of the incident, therefore, his earlier report, if inaccurate, was due to information he had received on the ground.

A statement released by the Drobo Traditional Council, alleged that the PRO’s assertion that the torch brand procession by the people of Japekrom through the principal street of Drobo has been an annual ritual during their Munufie Festival is a blatant lie meant to achieve a purpose only he knows and that this is the first time in history the people of Japekrom have ventured to embark on such exercise.

Again, the assertion that the gunshot came from the Drobo palace is also a big lie.

The Gyaasehene of Drobo Traditional Area Nana Amo Yeboah Asuamah told Adom News that verifiable fact on the ground is that the Krupiase palace of Drobo is located about a Kilometre off the main Berekum Sampa Road where the incident occurred.

We are therefore expecting the police hierarchy to call the P.R.O. to retract his widely circulated lies and present the true report from the Ghana Police,’ Gyaasehene stated.

Notwithstanding, the chairman for Drobomankabom Kuo, James Dartey, has cautioned the youth in Drobo and Japekrom to put the past behind and co-exist peacefully as they have years ago.

In all these, Nananom of Drobo Traditional Council have prevailed on the irate youth and restored calm.
