A security analyst at the Cape Coast University says he is not surprised by the attack on the Kwabenya Police post in the Greater Accra Region.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Monday, the security analyst said that the attack on the police post occurred because of the porous nature of the country’s security system.
“I wasn’t shocked upon hearing the news of the attack on the police post, the reason is that the state of the country’s security is very bad,” he said.

A Police officer was shot when a gang stormed the Kwabenya District Police headquarters to free suspected armed robbers who were in custody.
Six Ghanaian suspects and one Nigerian were freed in the process.
The remand prisoners were identified as Dickson Ofori, Chubuzor Chubuzor, Edem  Rockson, Emmanuel Kotey, Prince Osei, Kofi Darko and Atta Kwadwo.
The suspects are aged between 20 and 34 years old, police officials say.
Police Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi believed to be in his 40’s was shot in the attack carried out by a gang of six men.
Commenting on the attack, Dr Kingsley Agyei said people immigrate into the country in their numbers by the day but nothing has been done to improve upon security in the country.
“Democracy has given way for too many people to enter Ghana but still security is very porous. Intelligence is also poor, there is lack of CCTV cameras at police station, so we should provide the police with logistics to operate…,” he said.

Dr Agyei further demanded that “changes be made in policing in the country to make it attractive because no one will want to come and serve the nation and lose his life in the process.”
The Security Analyst was of the view that the police has become a target for criminals in recent times because they have come to the realization that the security personnel in the country are ill-equipped.
“The police is a target for criminals because they’ve seen that they are not well equipped. Ghana will be entering into the state of insecurity if the police are not armed with sophisticated weapons…,” he added.
