The Assembly Member for the Adum Electoral Area in Kenyasi No. 2 in the Ahafo Region, Rev. Osei Kofi Junior, has organised a community clean-up exercise to prevent possible disease outbreaks linked to poor sanitation.
The exercise focused on desilting choked drains, clearing stagnant water, and sweeping streets littered with refuse to improve environmental cleanliness in the area.
Speaking to Adom News after the exercise, Rev. Osei Kofi Junior said the accumulation of filth, sand, and stagnant water in gutters posed a serious public health risk, making the exercise timely and necessary.
He warned that failure to address the sanitation challenges could expose residents to outbreaks of diseases, particularly during the rainy season.

He urged members of the community to adopt good sanitation practices and make environmental cleanliness a shared responsibility, stressing that good health begins with a clean environment.
The District Chief Executive for Asutifi North, Hafiz Dauda, who participated in the exercise, commended the assembly member for consistently organising clean-up campaigns to improve sanitation in the electoral area.
He called on residents and other stakeholders to support the district assembly’s efforts to maintain a clean environment by properly disposing of waste and keeping their surroundings tidy.

The DCE also appealed to traders operating along roadsides to avoid dumping refuse into drains, warning that such practices contribute to flooding and unsanitary conditions.
Some residents who took part in the exercise praised Rev. Osei Kofi Junior for his commitment to improving sanitation and promoting public health in the community.
The clean-up exercise received support from the Chief of Kenyasi No. 1, Underground Mining Alliance, the Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation, Ardent Fire Protection, Harmotech Engineering, E-Adomako 64 Company and other organisations.
