Aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) Women’s Organiser for the Oti Region, Olivia Yawa Aglago, has called for renewed and decisive leadership of the party’s women’s wing to help reposition the NPP for victory in the 2028 general elections.
According to her, the women’s wing in the region has, over the past four years, lacked the strong, visible and consistent leadership needed to energise grassroots supporters and make the party more appealing to the wider electorate.
She said women remain a critical force for grassroots mobilisation and that strengthening leadership within the women’s wing was essential to building unity, credibility and electoral momentum.
Ms Aglago stressed that the party’s fortunes in the region could improve if the women’s wing was led with greater commitment, strategic organisation and a clear focus on community engagement and outreach.
She said effective women’s leadership should go beyond mobilising members during elections and involve sustained engagement with communities and other stakeholders.
The aspiring Women’s Organiser expressed confidence that her previous experience in party organisation gives her an advantage, saying she hopes delegates will trust her track record and give her another opportunity to serve.
She said her ambition was driven by a desire to strengthen the party’s grassroots base in the region and contribute to a broader strategy aimed at securing victory for the NPP in 2028.
Ms Aglago therefore appealed to delegates and supporters to support a leadership direction that is bold, unifying and results-oriented, arguing that a refreshed approach is needed to make the NPP more competitive in the Oti Region.
