Amantia Junior High School on Friday emerged winners of the maiden edition of the Asante-Akyim South Municipality’s inter-schools quiz competition held at Juaso in the Ashanti region.

The quiz, which saw 75 schools contesting for the trophy, was organised by a lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Edmond Oppong Peprah, who is a native of the area in collaboration with the Municipal Directorate of Education and the Assembly.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News, the Municipal Director of Education, Evelyn Karina Benewoe expressed gratitude to Mr Peprah for the initiative, which she believes will go a long way to enhance education development in the district and appealed to the government and well-meaning Ghanaians to support the worthy course.

Meanwhile, Mr Peprah, who pledged his continuous support towards the development of the area, described the initiative as his corporate social responsibility to the area.

“This initiative has come to stay and will go a long way to improve the standard of education and develop talents to contribute effectively and efficiently to the socio-economic growth of the local economy,” he said.

The school emerged winner with a total of 115 points to beat competitors from Asankare JHS which took the second position with 93 points in a three around contest.

Gyadam M/A JHS and Akrofa M/A JHS placed third and fourth with 83 and 81 points respectively with the ultimate winners, Amantia M/A school being awarded a desktop computer and a trophy.
