The people of Alakple, a fishing community in the Anloga District of the Volta Region, have appealed to Nana Abena Etubra, Benkumhene of Gomoa Amanful, to partner with them to promote development in the area.
The community, which has historically relied on its own resources to undertake development projects, believes that collaboration with Nana Abena Etubra will help accelerate the provision of essential infrastructure and create new opportunities for residents.
The people disclosed that they had begun constructing a health centre but had been unable to complete the facility due to financial challenges.
They therefore appealed for support to enable them to finish and equip the project for the benefit of the community.
They also called for assistance in establishing vocational training programmes, a tomato-processing factory and a community centre.
According to them, these projects would provide employment and skills-training opportunities, particularly for the youth.
Despite the challenges, the people of Alakple have continued to contribute towards the construction of roads and other community development initiatives.
They expressed hope that a partnership with Nana Abena Etubra would strengthen these efforts and attract additional support.
The appeal was made during Nana Abena Etubra’s visit to her ancestral home at Keta-Dzelukope in the Volta Region.
The visit was organised to renew family ties and strengthen relations with the community and traditional authorities.
The Anlo Royal Heritage welcomed Nana Abena Etubra, Adonten Division representative of the Gomoa Assin Traditional Area, in a ceremony that celebrated shared ancestry, culture and unity.
Nana Abena Etubra’s lineage is regarded as unique, linking royal heritage from Anlo, particularly Keta-Dzelukope, Gomoa and Ga in the Greater Accra Region.
Her homecoming was therefore viewed as an important occasion for deepening family bonds and promoting cultural identity.
Speaking at the event, Nana Abena Etubra expressed appreciation to the people of Alakple and the family for the warm reception.
She pledged to collaborate with the chiefs and residents to support development initiatives in the community.
As part of the ceremony, the chiefs and people of Alakple presented her with a stool symbolising her royal ancestry and the enduring bond between her lineage and the community.
