Communications Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Solomon Asante, says the sudden illness of Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was due  to the declaration by President Akufo-Addo’s to contest the 2020 elections.
According to Solomon Nkansah, Dr. Bawumia had a shock of his life after President Akufo-Addo openly declared that he will contest as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2020 elections if the party gives him the opportunity.

“Dr. Bawumia had a serious shock of his life after President Akufo-Addo declared that he will contest in 2020 on the ticket of NPP” he was speaking Wednesday on Adom FM’s flagship current affairs show, hosted by Afia Pokua.
During the second Media Encounter at the Flagstaff House, the president indicated his willingness to embrace the opportunity to contest on the ticket of the NPP as flagbearer for the 2020 elections upon the party’s decision.
“If at the end of the day, the NPP decides they want to renew my flagbearership, I will do so and I will do so with a great deal of confidence” President Akufo-Addo told the press.
But Solomon Nkansah insisted that the president’s declaration caused the illness of the vice president.

The vice president collapsed in his office immediately he returned from the president’s media encounter” the NDC Communicator alleges.
Dr. Bawumia who is currently on medical leave in London is expected to return home this week.
The Communications Director of NDC said his party is praying hard for the vice president to return home in good health to fix the economy.

“The NDC is praying for our vice president to recover fast to assume his duties to fix Ghana’s economy as he promised when in opposition” Solomon Nkansah prayed.
But the NPP’s Adenta Youth Organizer who is contesting for the position of Youth Organizer of NPP in the Greater Accra Region, Kwasi Obeng Fosu popularly known as Baba Toufic debunked the claims by Solomon Nkansah.
He stated that such lies by the NDC communicators sent them to opposition and expressed his surprise that the party is still engaging in such practices.
