The Kpandai District Assembly has disbursed GH¢139,000 to support 121 persons with disabilities (PWDs) with fufu machines to improve their livelihoods and promote economic independence.
The intervention is aimed at providing beneficiaries with practical tools to engage in income-generating activities and improve their living conditions.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kpandai, Haruna Abdul-Karim, advised persons with disabilities to prioritise requests for equipment and other productive items rather than cash when applying for support.

According to him, providing beneficiaries with machines and other working tools would help them establish sustainable businesses and generate income over a longer period.
He explained that cash support could be spent without necessarily achieving the intended purpose, whereas equipment such as fufu machines could serve as a lasting source of livelihood.
Hon. Abdul-Karim therefore encouraged persons with disabilities to request items that would help them develop their skills, establish businesses, and become financially independent.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the DCE and the Assembly for the intervention, describing it as timely and beneficial to their livelihoods.
They said the fufu machines would provide them with opportunities to engage in economic activities, earn income, and support themselves and their families.
The beneficiaries also expressed hope that the support would help improve their financial circumstances and reduce their dependence on others.

The intervention forms part of efforts to support persons with disabilities through practical assistance intended to promote inclusion, self-reliance, and improved living standards within the district.
