Legendary singer Lionel Richie has canceled three upcoming shows on his Sing a Song All Night Long Tour with Earth, Wind & Fire as he takes time off following a recent heart procedure.
The 77-year-old singer underwent a procedure for atrial fibrillation (AFib), an irregular heartbeat, after being hospitalized recently.
According to his representative, the procedure went perfectly and Richie is doing well, but he has been advised to take some time away before returning to the stage.
The canceled performances include shows scheduled for San Francisco, Chicago and Columbus.
The latest development comes after Richie was also hospitalized as a precaution last month following his August 29 performance in St. Louis.
He underwent cardiac testing at the time before being released and returning to Los Angeles.
Richie’s representative said the singer is doing well as he takes the necessary time off from performing.
The cancellations mean fans in the three affected cities will have to wait for further arrangements regarding the tour.
