Businessman and National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart Richard Dogbe, popularly known as Alhaji ATM, has announced his intention to contest the position of Deputy Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser of the party.
Mr Dogbe says his decision is based on his experience within the NDC, his ability to mobilise resources and his determination to provide effective leadership for the party’s youth wing in the region.
Launching his campaign, he said the youth wing requires leaders with the capacity and courage to turn ideas into tangible opportunities for young party members.
“The time for capacity is now. The time for courage is here,” he said.
Mr Dogbe, who is the Chief Executive Officer of ATM Group, said his involvement in the NDC spans several years, having served at the branch level while also supporting the party as a communicator and financier.
He said his grassroots experience had given him a deeper understanding of the party and the challenges confronting its members.
“I have experienced our party from the ground up, and I have carried its weight over the years on my young shoulders, without hesitation,” he stated.
Drawing on his experience in the private sector, Mr Dogbe said leadership requires more than ambition and promises, stressing the importance of networks, resources and the ability to deliver on commitments.
He argued that the Greater Accra youth wing needed leaders who could use their business and political networks to create opportunities and empower young people.
“Too many come with ambition and mere words but no capacity to mobilise people or resources, no courage to walk their talk. But I come with a business network. I come with bridges to government. I come with a capacity to mobilise resources, earned through sweat, not slogans,” he said.
Mr Dogbe urged NDC delegates and supporters to consider his track record and support his bid, insisting that his campaign was focused on strengthening opportunities for young people rather than promoting his personal ambitions.
“This is not about me. This is about all of us,” he said.
His campaign is being anchored on the slogan: “Capacity to Lead, Courage to Deliver.”
