The Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has petitioned the National Security Secretariat, the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and the Ghana Police Service over allegations made by Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah against the Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, Dr Nana Ayew Afriye.
In a petition signed by Martin Ameyaw, Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser of the NPP Youth Wing dated September 7, 2026, the group described the allegations as “baseless and malicious” and called on the security agencies to investigate them.
According to the Ashanti Regional Youth Wing, Prophet Owusu Bempah, founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry, has alleged publicly that Dr Ayew Afriye planned to mobilise the NPP Nasara Wing to attack him and his church over prophecies he had made concerning the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The youth wing said the allegation amounted to a serious accusation of criminal conspiracy against the MP and should therefore be treated as a matter of public safety and national security.
“We are appalled by these allegations, which we consider wicked, false and entirely without foundation,” the group stated.
It maintained that Dr Ayew Afriye was a “peace-loving” leader who had never instructed or encouraged the NPP Youth Wing or any other group to attack the prophet, his church or its members.
The group is consequently asking the security agencies to invite Prophet Owusu Bempah to substantiate his allegations with evidence.
It also wants the agencies to establish whether there is any factual basis for the alleged plan to attack the prophet and his church.
The petition further calls for appropriate legal action if the allegations are found to be false and were made with the intention of inciting public disaffection, causing fear and panic or damaging the reputation of the MP.
The youth wing has also asked the security agencies to take steps to ensure Dr Ayew Afriye’s personal safety, arguing that the allegations could expose him to public hostility or reprisal.
The group said its petition was not motivated by malice against Prophet Owusu Bempah or his ministry but by concerns about the safety and reputation of the MP.
It stressed that public allegations of criminal conduct should either be substantiated with evidence or retracted.
