Uber is set to end its operations in Nigeria today, September 2, 2026, bringing its 12-year presence in the country to an end.
The ride-hailing company announced the decision in a message to customers, saying it had taken the “tough decision” to wind down its operations in Nigeria following a thorough review of its business.
Uber launched in Lagos in 2014 and has since become part of the daily transportation routine of many Nigerians, connecting passengers with independent drivers for work, social engagements and movement across the city.
In its message, the company thanked customers for trusting its platform over the years and acknowledged that its departure could disrupt their routines.
“We know this may cause disruption to your routine, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience,” Uber said.
The company also expressed appreciation to users who relied on the platform to connect with drivers and travel safely.
