Incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong is maintaining a commanding lead in the race to retain his position, while former Greater Accra Regional Minister Titus Glover has taken the lead in the contest for National Organiser.
This is according to the latest poll by Global InfoAnalytics, released on September 2, 2026, ahead of the party’s national executive elections.
The survey, however, points to a highly competitive National Chairman race, with former General Secretary John Boadu leading the field but facing a large number of undecided delegates.
Global InfoAnalytics surveyed 2,581 NPP delegates across all 16 regions through computer-assisted telephone interviews conducted from August 27 to September 1. The respondents were randomly selected from the party’s 2026 constituency register.
The poll has a 99% confidence level and a margin of error of plus or minus 1.9 percentage points.
In the National Chairman contest, Mr Boadu has 23.3% support, placing him ahead of former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, who has 17.7%.
Former National Chairman Paul Afoko polled 4.1%, while Sammy Crabbe recorded 0.7%.
The race remains open, however, with 41.3% of delegates yet to make a choice and 12.8% refusing to disclose their preferred candidate.
Mr Boadu’s strongest regional performance was recorded in the Savannah Region, where he secured 40%, followed by the Upper West with 38%, Upper East with 36% and Oti with 35%.
Mr Agyarko, meanwhile, performed best in the Eastern Region with 38% support and recorded 24% in the Northern Region.
The poll also indicates that delegates place a premium on unity when choosing a National Chairman. Some 44.3% said the ability to unite the party was the most important quality, while 24.3% prioritised discipline and 18.7% preferred a candidate with strong grassroots credentials.
Mr Boadu also had the highest favourability rating among the chairmanship contenders, with a net favourability score of 70%, marginally ahead of Mr Agyarko’s 69%.
Kodua leads General Secretary race
The General Secretary contest appears less competitive, with Mr Kodua enjoying a substantial advantage over his challengers.
The incumbent polled 44.6%, compared with 7.6% for Sylvester Tetteh. Eugene Antwi recorded 2.2%, while Charles Dwamena had 1.7%.
Despite Mr Kodua’s lead, 32.7% of delegates remain undecided, while 11.2% declined to state their preference.
His strongest support comes from Western North, where he polled 57%, followed by Bono East at 56%, Western at 51%, and both Ahafo and Central at 50%.
Glover leads Organiser contest
Former Greater Accra Regional Minister Titus Glover is ahead in the National Organiser race with 37.2% support.
He is followed by Ali Maiga with 6.3% and Salam Mustapha with 4.1%.
The contest also has a significant undecided bloc, with 39.3% yet to choose a candidate and another 11.1% withholding their preference.
Treasurer race remains wide open
The National Treasurer contest is the most uncertain of the races surveyed, with more than half of delegates, 51.7%, yet to decide.
Among declared preferences, Alfred Thompson leads with 12.6%, followed by Dr Issahaku Moomin Tahir on 9.8% and Collins Nuamah on 8.4%.
The race for the vice-chairmanship is similarly close. Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid leads with 18.3%, while Henry Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea are tied at 17.5% each.
Global InfoAnalytics noted that its survey does not include regional and other executives who are eligible to vote. However, it estimates that the sample covers more than 80% of the party’s delegate population.
