The accredited Kingmakers of Kpone have disassociated themselves from Ago Tettey Kwao, who they say is holding himself out as Nene Tettey Mansro II, the Paramount Chief of the Kpone Traditional Area.

In a statement, the Kingmakers said Ago Tettey Kwao had not been installed as the substantive Paramount Chief of Kpone in accordance with the customary laws and procedures of the traditional area.

They therefore said they do not recognise him as the Kpone Mantse and have not authorised him to represent, speak for, transact on behalf of or exercise the authority of the Paramount Stool of Kpone.

The Kingmakers further rejected what they described as his purported claim to the Kpone Mantse stool and urged members of the public and institutions to independently verify his authority before relying on any representations made by him.

They specifically cautioned against treating any letter, appointment, directive, land transaction, agreement, customary pronouncement, public statement, ceremony or other undertaking made by Ago Tettey Kwao in the capacity of Kpone Mantse as an act of the Paramount Stool.

The statement was addressed to the general public, government institutions, traditional authorities, security agencies, landowners, businesses, financial institutions and the ten clans of Kpone.

The Kingmakers urged all stakeholders to exercise caution and recognise no person as the substantive Paramount Chief of Kpone until that person has been duly selected and enstooled in accordance with the applicable customary and national laws.

They also warned that individuals or institutions who deal with Ago Tettey Kwao in his purported capacity as Kpone Mantse would do so at their own risk.
