Engineer Edem Gomashi, Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Buem-Jasikan Constituency of the Oti Region, has urged delegates to elect competent leaders capable of repositioning the party for victory in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking ahead of the party’s regional internal elections, Mr Gomashi said unity and effective leadership should remain the NPP’s priority as it seeks to regain power, with a focus on securing victory for its 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

He expressed concern about the party’s inability in recent years to secure parliamentary representation in the Oti Region and urged delegates to put personal interests aside and support candidates with the capacity to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.

A total of 216 delegates are expected to participate in the election.

Aspiring Communications Officer Musah Seidu, in an interview with Adom News, also encouraged delegates to elect executives who could energise party activities and expand the party’s support base ahead of the 2028 elections.

As of the time of filing this report, voting was ongoing, with delegates casting their ballots.

Heavy security presence was also observed at Nsuata-Buem to ensure the safety of delegates and protect electoral materials and property throughout the exercise.
