Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed government’s commitment to reforming the public sector to ensure that state institutions effectively serve the interests of Ghanaians.
She said the government was implementing measures to strengthen public institutions and improve the quality and efficiency of services delivered to citizens.
The Vice President made the remarks at the 2026 Civil Service Week and 2025 Awards Week celebration held under the theme, “The Resetting Agenda for Sustainable Development in Ghana: The Civil Service’s Responsibilities.”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said ongoing reforms within the public sector were aimed at building stronger institutions capable of responding effectively to the needs and expectations of citizens.
She urged civil servants across the country to remain committed to professionalism and put the public interest at the centre of their work.
According to her, the effectiveness of government policies would depend largely on the commitment and efficiency of public servants responsible for implementing them.
The Vice President therefore encouraged civil servants to uphold the values of integrity, accountability and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Civil Service, Dr Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, has called on civil servants to change the way they work to support the government’s Resetting Agenda.
He said the success of the agenda would depend significantly on the quality, efficiency and impact of work delivered by public servants.
Dr Aggrey-Darkoh urged civil servants to embrace reforms and adopt more effective approaches to public service delivery to help achieve the government’s development objectives.
