Aspiring Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odarlai Parker, has expressed confidence in retaining the position, saying his track record and experience make him the best candidate to help the party rebuild and reclaim power in the 2028 general elections.
Mr. Parker said his years of service to the party have earned him the trust of delegates across the region, insisting that he requires little introduction because of the work he has already done.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, he likened his popularity within the party to akpeteshie, the locally distilled alcoholic beverage, saying it needs no advertisement to attract patrons.
“Akpeteshie doesn’t need advertising to sell itself. I’m the right man for the job, and my people know me and the work I’ve done as Greater Accra Regional Secretary. I’m here to win again,” he said.
According to Mr. Parker, his longstanding relationship with constituency executives and grassroots members gives him an advantage in the race.
“I have worked with most of the executives. My magic is that I can campaign across a whole region within three days because the people know me. I worked hard even before I became Regional Secretary,” he stated.
He said the NPP faces significant work in Greater Accra if it is to return to power and believes his experience will be critical in repositioning the party.
“There is a lot we need to do in Greater Accra to win power, and I am the best person for the job,” he said.
Mr. Parker described himself as “the voice of the voiceless” within the party’s constituency structures and appealed to delegates to renew his mandate.
He pledged to help the party address the shortcomings that contributed to its electoral defeat and ensure similar mistakes are not repeated.
“I will ensure we correct all the things that did not work for us in the last election and prevent those old mistakes,” he said.
The aspiring Regional Secretary also promised to support newly elected regional executives with his institutional knowledge to enable them to settle quickly into their roles.
“I will also assist the new officers with the knowledge they need to learn fast and enable us to win power back. I understand the dynamics of the constituencies, and I am very assertive,” he added.
The NPP is currently conducting internal elections to elect regional executives as part of efforts to reorganise the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
