Ghana international midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi has completed his move to Coventry City ahead of the new Premier League season, subject to international clearance.
The 19-year-old midfielder joins the Sky Blues from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland on a long-term contract, with the transfer fee remaining undisclosed.
Yirenkyi arrives in England after an impressive 2025/26 campaign that saw his stock rise significantly both at club and international level.
“I’m excited to be at this club,” he told the club website after completing his move.
“I’ve heard so much about it and I really feel positive about being here.Â
“When I spoke to the Head Coach about the plans and the style, it’s something I really like, and I look forward to learning from him.
“I want to give my best to the team each and every day. I’m still young so I want to learn from the Head Coach, the other players and work really hard for the team.Â
“I’ve also heard a lot about the fans; they’re incredible and I can’t wait to play in front of them.,” he added.
The youngster was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he made a major impact by scoring the decisive goal in the Black Stars’ 1-0 victory over Panama.
He featured alongside fellow Ghana international Brandon Thomas-Asante during the tournament.
Despite his young age, Yirenkyi has already earned 15 senior caps for Ghana, having established himself as one of the country’s most promising midfielders following his rapid development in Denmark.
His journey to senior football began at the renowned Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, where he developed before moving to FC Nordsjaelland in 2024.
Yirenkyi made his senior debut for the Danish club in September 2024 at just 18 years old and quickly became an important member of the first-team squad.
His breakthrough continued during the 2025/26 season, when he made 34 appearances for Nordsjaelland as the club secured a third-place finish in the Danish Superliga and booked a place in the UEFA Conference League.
His outstanding performances throughout the campaign earned him significant individual recognition.
Yirenkyi was named the Danish Superliga Young Player of the Year and was also selected in the league’s 2025/26 Team of the Year.
Coventry City will now hope the Ghanaian midfielder can carry that impressive form into English football as they prepare for the new Premier League campaign.
The move represents another significant step in Yirenkyi’s rapidly developing career and gives the young Ghana international an opportunity to continue his progression in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
