Ghana’s Amadu Mohammed has secured a spot in the semi-final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in the men’s 55kg boxing contest.
The African Games champion secured victory over England’s Ellis Trowbridge, earning a 4-1 points decision to advance to the next round.
Amadu is guaranteed bronze after reaching the semi-finals, securing Ghana’s second medal at the Games.
He returns on Friday, July 31, where he takes on Australia’s Jye Dixon in the semi-finals of the men’s 55kg division.
The African Games champion could finish with a silver or gold medal if he advances to the final.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s Jibril Muntari suffered a unanimous defeat, ending his Commonwealth Games campaign
Muntari missed out on semi-final qualification after losing in the men’s 90kg quarterfinals to Northern Ireland’s Garyn McAllister.
