Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has sealed a permanent transfer from Leicester City to Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 22-year-old winger has signed a five-year contract with the Tractor Boys, keeping him at Portman Road until the summer of 2031 as he prepares for a new chapter in England’s top flight.
Issahaku has already linked up with his new teammates at the club’s pre-season training camp in La Manga, Spain, where Ipswich are stepping up preparations for the upcoming campaign.
The talented forward arrives after an impressive season with Leicester City, scoring nine goals in 44 Championship appearances as he established himself as one of the Foxes’ standout performers.
His stock also rose on the international stage after featuring in all four of Ghana’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he continued to demonstrate his quality against some of the world’s best teams.
Issahaku’s football journey began with Ghanaian side Steadfast FC before a successful loan spell at Dreams FC paved the way for a move to Portuguese giants Sporting CP in 2022.
He later joined Leicester City, helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League during the 2023/24 campaign before enjoying another productive season with the Foxes.
At international level, the winger has made 32 appearances for the Black Stars and has represented Ghana at both the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups.
He first announced himself on the continental stage by inspiring Ghana to victory at the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, where his outstanding performances earned him the tournament’s Player of the Tournament award.
Ipswich will be hoping Issahaku’s pace, creativity and attacking flair can strengthen their squad as they look to establish themselves in the Premier League during the 2026/27 campaign.
