Ghana’s Black Satellites have been handed a challenging group for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship after being drawn alongside fierce rivals Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Togo.
The draw was conducted on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the headquarters of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The group sets up another eagerly anticipated clash between Ghana and Nigeria, renewing one of African football’s fiercest rivalries at youth level.
The Black Satellites will also have to navigate difficult encounters against Burkina Faso and Togo as they seek a place at the next U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
In Group A, hosts Côte d’Ivoire have been paired with Benin and Niger in what promises to be another closely contested section.
The WAFU B U-20 Championship will feature all seven member associations of the regional body, providing a platform for some of West Africa’s brightest young talents to showcase their abilities.
The competition also carries significant stakes, as it serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana, having already secured hosting rights for the continental tournament, will stage the championship in 2027.
