Ghana’s Black Queens will continue their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a high-profile international friendly against West African rivals Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
The much-anticipated encounter is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Stade El Abir Zaouli, with kick-off set for 4:00 pm.
The fixture comes as part of Ghana’s build-up to the continental tournament and will provide head coach and his technical team with another opportunity to assess the squad ahead of the challenges at WAFCON.
The Black Queens enter the game with renewed confidence after securing a 1-0 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in their opening pre-tournament friendly. Sharon Sampson scored the decisive goal in the 75th minute to hand Ghana a positive start to their preparations.
However, the clash against the Super Falcons is expected to present a tougher challenge, as both teams look to fine-tune their squads, improve team cohesion and build momentum ahead of Africa’s biggest women’s football competition.
The meeting also renews a historic rivalry between two of the continent’s most recognised women’s football nations, with Ghana and Nigeria aiming to record a morale-boosting result before the tournament begins.
The Black Queens, who claimed a bronze medal at the previous edition of the WAFCON, have been drawn in Group D for the 2026 tournament alongside Cape Verde, Cameroon and Mali.
