Veteran Kumawood actress Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu has donated GH¢50,000 towards the kidney transplant of fellow actor Kwadwo Kwakye Obuobi, popularly known as Kwadwo Kwekyre.
The donation forms part of efforts to help the ailing actor raise the more than GH¢700,000 required for the life-saving procedure.
Presenting the donation, Mercy Asiedu appealed to colleagues in the entertainment industry, corporate organisations and benevolent individuals to support the fundraising campaign to give Kwadwo Kwekyre a chance at recovery.
She stressed that the actor has brought joy to many Ghanaians through his performances over the years and now deserves the collective support of the industry and the public in his time of need.
Kwadwo Kwekyre has been battling kidney failure and has publicly appealed for financial assistance to undergo a transplant.
The latest donation adds to growing efforts by industry players and well-wishers to help him secure the funds needed for the procedure as calls continue for more support to save his life.
