Personnel from the Manhyia Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have paid a courtesy call on the newly enstooled Asantehemaa, Nana Yaa Akyaa II.

The delegation, led by Station Commander DO II Prince Gyau Baffour, visited the Queen Mother at the Manhyia Palace to formally pay homage following her recent selection by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The visit also aimed at strengthening the cordial relationship between the Ghana National Fire Service and the traditional leadership of the Ashanti Kingdom.

Speaking during the meeting, DO II Prince Gyau Baffour congratulated Nana Yaa Akyaa II on her elevation and expressed the Service’s readiness to collaborate with the traditional authorities in promoting public safety, fire prevention, and emergency response within the Ashanti Kingdom.

Nana Yaa Akyaa II succeeds the late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed away in 2025 after serving for many years.

As Asantehemaa, Nana Yaa Akyaa II plays a crucial role in the Ashanti traditional system, serving as a key advisor to the Asantehene, custodian of Ashanti culture, and motherly figure to the people of the kingdom. Her selection has been widely welcomed across the Ashanti Region.
