Some members of the Ghanaian community in the United States have received government-sponsored tickets to support the Black Stars at the FIFA World Cup after a selection process coordinated by Ghana’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
In a follow-up notice, the Mission disclosed that it was directed by Ghana’s Ministry of Sports and Recreation to submit a limited number of names from the Ghanaian community for consideration.
According to the Mission, consultations were held with established and recognized Ghanaian associations and community groups before a consolidated list of prospective beneficiaries was forwarded to the Ministry.
The Mission has since been informed that individuals whose names were submitted have received their World Cup tickets electronically.
However, it expressed regret that the limited allocation meant it could not accommodate everyone who had expressed interest in attending Ghana’s World Cup matches.
The Mission concluded by wishing the Black Stars success in the tournament as they continue their campaign on football’s biggest stage.
