Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has stressed that his side will not adopt a defensive mindset when they take on Croatia in their final Group L fixture at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars head into the decisive clash against the 2018 finalists knowing that a draw would be enough to secure progression to the Round of 32.

Ghana began their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Panama before following it up with a disciplined goalless draw against England.

Those results have left them well placed heading into the final group match, with qualification firmly in their own hands.

Despite the favourable position, Queiroz has dismissed any suggestion that his team will sit back and play cautiously, insisting their approach will remain unchanged regardless of the stakes.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, the Portuguese coach was emphatic about his philosophy.

“A lot of talk about attack and defense but I only know how to play to win, and that’s what we will do against Croatia,” Queiroz declared.

Ghana now face a simple task on paper—avoid defeat to progress—but their coach has made it clear that survival football will not define their approach when they step onto the pitch.
