The Upper Denkyira East Municipal Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has temporarily closed the main access road to the Dunkwa-on-Offin Municipal Government Hospital following severe flooding caused by a heavy downpour on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

The move, according to NADMO, is intended to prevent potential disasters and ensure the safety of residents, motorists, patients, and healthcare workers.

Speaking to Mohammed Radiu Dinn Rasko of Adom News, Dendenlen Mohammed, the Municipal NADMO Deputy Director in charge of Technical Services, said the affected stretch of road has become impassable and poses a significant risk to commuters, necessitating its immediate closure.

Dendenlen Mohammed advised members of the public seeking access to the Municipal Government Hospital to use the Alfred Bonsuom-Nursing Training Road as an alternative route until conditions improve and the road is deemed safe for use.

He further urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid flooded areas, and strictly comply with safety directives issued by emergency management authorities.

Meanwhile, Mark Arthur, the Assembly Member for the Sofokrom–Accra Town Electoral Area, has cautioned residents living along the banks of the Offin River to begin preparing for possible evacuation as floodwaters continue to rise.

He expressed concern about the growing threat of flooding and urged affected residents to relocate to safer areas before the situation worsens.

The Assembly Member also appealed to community members to cooperate with NADMO officials and other emergency response agencies to protect lives and property.
