Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed confidence that Ghana will deliver a performance that will make supporters proud at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the team is focused on winning matches and bringing joy to fans.

The 73-year-old made the remarks at a send-off ceremony on Wednesday as the squad departed for their pre-tournament base in Rhode Island.

“On behalf of my boys, I can as a coach guarantee that when you finish the games, you will want to be proud of them; I am sure of that,” Queiroz said.

He stressed that the ultimate objective is to make supporters happy through results on the pitch.

“The great goal that we have in mind is our duty, and our goal is to make people happy, and the more you can make more people happy if you win, and we are ready to do that,” the former Iran and Egypt boss added.

Queiroz, who will be attending his fifth World Cup as a coach, brings vast tournament experience, having previously led Iran on multiple occasions.

Appointed as Ghana’s head coach in April, the veteran tactician has had limited time with the squad but remains optimistic about their readiness for the tournament.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia, setting up a challenging group-stage campaign.

The Black Stars begin their World Cup journey against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium. Their final group match will be against Croatia on June 27.
