The Minister for the Interior and also MP for Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mubarak Muntaka Mohammed, has praised the Volta Region for its commitment to peace, describing it as one of the most peaceful regions among Ghana’s 16 administrative regions.
The Minister made the remarks during an engagement with traditional authorities, religious leaders, security personnel, and other stakeholders as part of his working visit to the region.
He noted that the prevailing peace and stability in the Volta Region have significantly contributed to social cohesion, economic growth, and national development.
According to him, the region continues to serve as a model for peaceful coexistence and effective collaboration between communities and security agencies despite a few hot spots generally standing in the region. He commended residents for their dedication to maintaining law and order and urged them to sustain the spirit of unity that has helped preserve peace in the region.
Mr Muntaka emphasized that peace remains a critical pillar for development, stressing that the government would continue to support initiatives aimed at strengthening security and protecting lives and property across the country.
The Interior Minister also encouraged community leaders, youth groups, and civil society organizations to remain vigilant and work closely with the security services to address emerging threats and prevent conflicts before they escalate.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all Ghanaians and expressed confidence that the Volta Region would continue to uphold its reputation as one of the country’s most peaceful regions.
