The Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has brought joy and relief to artisans in her constituency after fulfilling her promise to support beneficiaries under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP).

The MP presented 70 artisans with sewing machines, hair dryers, barbering clippers, and other working tools to help them establish and expand their businesses.

The beneficiaries, drawn from across the Jomoro Municipality, include dressmakers, seamstresses, tailors, hairdressers, and barbers.

Under the intervention, 25 hairdressers received hair dryers, 20 barbers were given clippers, while 25 dressmakers and seamstresses also received sewing machines. The support targets both graduates of the NAP and apprentices who are already practising alongside their training.

The initiative, which is self-funded by the MP, is aimed at empowering constituents to become self-reliant and pursue sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking at the presentation, Madam Affo-Toffey, who is also Deputy Minister for Transport, said the donation forms part of efforts to promote skills development and youth empowerment.

“Today [May 25, 2026], I am donating these sewing machines, hair dryers, clippers, and other working tools to artisans across the Jomoro Municipality under the National Apprenticeship Programme,” she said.

“This long-awaited intervention brings hope and opportunity to many young artisans and apprentices, reaffirming the government’s commitment to skills development, youth empowerment, and self-employment,” she added.

She further noted that the initiative will help promote job creation, strengthen local enterprises, and contribute to the economic development of Jomoro and Ghana at large.
