The APSU 2002 Year Group has announced key leadership appointments to spearhead preparations for the 97th anniversary celebrations of St Augustine’s College.
In a statement issued by the Executive Committee, Mr. George Baffour Asare-Afriyie Esq. and Dr. Linus Kweku Labik have been appointed as Co-Chairmen of the Anniversary Hosting and BOLT Steering Committee, while Mr. Raymond Andoh will serve as Vice Chairman.
The appointments, which took immediate effect, are expected to strengthen the committee as it transitions into the implementation phase ahead of the anniversary celebration.
According to the statement, the newly appointed leaders bring extensive professional experience, leadership expertise and a strong commitment to service within the APSU community.
Mr. George Baffour Asare-Afriyie, a lawyer, legal academic and international maritime expert, currently serves as Assistant Secretary of APSU USA and is a former APSU Deputy Organiser and Porter. He holds an LL.M. in Maritime Law from Tulane Law School, a Professional Qualifying Certificate from the Ghana School of Law, as well as BA and LL.B. degrees from the University of Ghana.
Dr. Linus Kweku Labik is an astrophysicist, researcher and lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Department of Physics. His research focuses on planetary formation, particularly the evolution of porosity during dust coagulation through simulation and modelling techniques.
He also supports the National Hilal Committee under the Office of the National Chief Imam, assisting in the scientific sighting of the crescent moon. He serves as Principal Investigator of the AstroXMat Research Lab, where he leads interdisciplinary research in astronomy, space science, materials science and energy.
Mr. Raymond Andoh, the newly appointed Vice Chairman, is an ICT Engineer with more than 17 years of experience, particularly in the mining sector. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, a Professional Diploma in e-Technology and is a Microsoft Certified Professional.
Beyond his professional career, he has served as the Abakomahene of the Mampongso Divisional Area in the Western Region since 2012 and is actively involved in community leadership and development.
The statement also highlighted Mr. Bernard Abaka Acheampong, Secretary to the Planning Committee and an Ex-Officio member of APSU 2002, who previously served in key leadership roles within the group.
The Executive Committee expressed confidence that the appointees will work effectively with stakeholders to ensure a successful and memorable anniversary celebration.
