Dutch club NAC Breda have decided not to activate contract extension clauses for Ghana internationals André Ayew and Denis Odoi following their relegation from the Eredivisie.

The decision comes after a difficult 2025-26 campaign in which the club finished 17th in the 18-team standings, sealing an immediate drop back to the second tier.

Both players joined the club during the season, with Odoi arriving in November 2025 and Ayew signing in January 2026 as a free agent after a spell without a club.

Odoi made 19 appearances, bringing defensive experience during a challenging period, while Ayew featured 16 times and scored once after his mid-season arrival.

Despite their contributions, NAC Breda struggled for consistency throughout the campaign and were unable to avoid relegation.

The club’s decision now brings both short-lived spells in the Netherlands to an end as it begins plans to rebuild its squad for life in the second division.

Both Ayew and Odoi, members of Ghana’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad in Qatar, remain in the national team conversation, with Ayew still reportedly in contention for a possible recall ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
