Seven more sanitation offenders have been convicted by the Prempeh Assembly District Court Two as authorities intensify the crackdown on illegal dumping in the Kumasi Metropolis.

The latest convictions bring the total number of sanitation offenders prosecuted since Monday, May 11, 2026, to 25.

The court, presided over by Her Worship Deborah Gyaawa Donkoh, convicted the offenders after they pleaded guilty to charges of illegal dumping of waste contrary to Section 56(a) and (b) of the Public Health Act, 2012.

According to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly), the offenders were arrested by Metro Guards during sanitation enforcement operations at Kejetia Gate 3, Pampaso, Blue Light, Adehyeman Market, PZ and other parts of Kejetia.

KMA Prosecutor Enock Nkansah told the court that the arrests formed part of ongoing efforts to enforce sanitation regulations and curb indiscriminate waste disposal within the city.

Each offender was fined 120 penalty units, equivalent to GH¢1,440, or face a 10-day prison term in default of payment.

The Assembly reiterated its commitment to enforcing sanitation bye-laws to ensure a cleaner, healthier and more orderly Kumasi.

The KMA also reminded residents that indiscriminate dumping of refuse remains a punishable offence under the law.
