The Manso Aboaboso CHPS Compound in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region is operating with only one health worker, a situation residents say is exposing the community to serious health risks.
Residents disclosed that the community has a population of about 5,000 people, but poor infrastructure and lack of mobile network connectivity have discouraged many government workers from accepting postings to the area.
As a result, the entire health facility is being managed by a single health professional who attends to more than 20 patients daily.

A visit by Adom News to the facility revealed that Prince Bonzey serves as an OPD officer, clinician, and midwife at the CHPS compound.
Speaking to Adom News, Mr. Bonzey explained that many health workers refuse postings to the facility because of the poor mobile network connectivity in the community.
“I was working here with another nurse who is currently on maternity leave, and I don’t think she will return because the network challenge in this community is unbearable and making the work very difficult,” he lamented.
According to him, the lack of network connectivity has also made emergency healthcare delivery extremely difficult, as health workers are unable to call for ambulance services during critical situations.
“Providing healthcare to residents here is very challenging. Authorities must urgently intervene to address the situation,” he appealed.
Some patients who also spoke to Adom News expressed frustration over the long queues at the facility, explaining that residents from surrounding rural communities all depend on the same health worker for medical care.

“Sometimes you come here and spend hours without seeing the health worker because he is overwhelmed. At times, people even return home without treatment. It is very worrying. Are we not Ghanaians too?” a resident questioned.
Residents are therefore calling on the government and relevant authorities to improve mobile network connectivity and deploy additional health workers to the community to help ease the pressure on the only staff at the facility.
The situation, according to community members, continues to worsen daily and requires urgent attention from authorities.
