The site earmarked for the government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy market project has officially been handed over to the Adaklu Waya District Assembly in the Volta Region for the commencement of developmental activities.
The 20-acre land, donated by the Adaklu traditional authorities, was formally presented during a ceremony attended by chiefs, assembly officials, opinion leaders, and residents of the area.
Speaking to Adom News at the event, the District Chief Executive for Adaklu Waya and Dean of MMDCEs in the Volta Region, Jerry Yaw Ameko, described the project as a major boost for economic growth and job creation in the district.
According to him, the proposed market will provide a modern trading environment that will enable businesses to operate beyond regular working hours, in line with the government’s 24-hour economy agenda.
He explained that the initiative is expected to improve commercial activities, promote entrepreneurship, and stimulate sustainable economic development within the district and surrounding communities.
Mr. Ameko expressed appreciation to the government, traditional authorities, and all stakeholders who contributed to securing the land and facilitating the successful handover process.
He also appealed to residents to support the project and cooperate with authorities during the construction phase to ensure its successful completion.
The DCE assured that the assembly would work closely with contractors and traditional leaders to ensure smooth execution of the project.
The Presidential 24-Hour Economy Market project at Adaklu Waya is expected to be completed within 24 months.
