Black Starlets head coach Dr Prosper Nartey Ogum has shed light on his decision-making process after unveiling Ghana’s 21-man squad for the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The tournament is set to kick off next week, with Ghana aiming to make a strong impression on the continental stage.
Ogum, the former Asante Kotoko head coach, said his selection was guided by a careful assessment of players’ form, discipline and tactical awareness throughout the team’s preparation period.
“We have carefully selected this squad based on form, discipline and tactical understanding,” Nartey Ogum told the Ghana FA website.
“These boys have shown great commitment during our preparations, and I believe they are ready to compete at the highest level,” he added.
The Black Starlets have already arrived in Rabat, Morocco, where final preparations are underway ahead of the competition, which begins on May 13, 2026.
Ghana have been drawn in a challenging Group D alongside Algeria, Senegal and South Africa, setting up a tough test for Ogum’s young side as they chase continental success.
