Police in Kumasi have arrested one person in connection with the murder of an Indian national, Devendra Singh, as investigations into the incident intensify.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations, according to a press release issued by the Police Public Affairs Unit on April 26, 2026.
The deceased had earlier been reported missing, prompting a police search operation to locate him.
Police say a breakthrough came on April 25 at about 2:00 p.m. when information was received that the victim’s vehicle had been found at the outskirts of Sabin Akrofuom, near the Royal Lemosy Hospital. Officers who proceeded to the scene discovered the vehicle parked by the roadside.
Upon further inspection, the lifeless body of Devendra Singh was found in the boot of the vehicle with multiple stab wounds.
The Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team subsequently processed the scene, after which the body was conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. The vehicle has also been impounded for further investigations.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police has deployed a special team comprising intelligence officers and homicide investigators to support the Ashanti Regional Police Command in the case.
Police say efforts are underway to arrest all persons connected to the crime and have appealed to the public to volunteer any relevant information to aid investigations.
Authorities have assured that every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
